Ready, steady, GO!

A clever idea to introduce reading and listening activities to our children is to make them attractive. Pupil’s learning activity is open to new concepts, so starting with a pre-task activity will motivate and catch the attention of our students.

To begin with, I have designed a lesson plan for 6-7 year old kids. It deals with the creativity and imagination. I have based the plan in three different ways to learn English:

· natural approach.

· communicative approach.

· lexical approach.

The structure of the class is essential to reach a good communication between students. Instead of using the traditional distribution in which the pupils are sitting looking to the teacher, I believe in changing that way and relocate the tables and chairs in order to improve the relation between students.

Warm activities are designed to do it in groups; rather than the rest of activities are thought to do it in couples.

Ø Learning objectives:

To know and order the months of the year.
To understand that the year is divided into four distinct seasons.
To recognize differences in the environment between seasons.
To observe and record seasonal change.
To understand that different weather conditions have an effect upon living things.
To tolerate believing’s classmates.
To learn how to work in a group.

WARM UP!

Everyone has a story to tell—little kids especially love sharing stories about all the imaginary worlds and people they've created. And story-telling is a great way to help improve your child's speaking and writing skills. If you're looking for ideas to get your child sharing, here's an activity to help: create Character Cubes!

Roll these cubes for inspiration, and start spinning some wacky and silly stories!

What we have to do is to write on one die, six items in which our child is currently interested (for example a dinosaur, truck, horse, princes, and so on). On the other die, we have to write six action words (for example swim, dance, shop, fly, and so on).

Now is time to create crazy stories! Roll the item die and make up something about the picture that is facing up. For example, “Once upon a time, there was a very small dinosaur that lived all alone in a very small apartment.” Then have your child roll the action die and add to the story that you began. For example, “His apartment was surrounded by soup so when he wanted to go anywhere, he had to swim.”

Continue taking turns until one of the stories reaches an ending!

We present to our students a situation in which they are calling a bookstore. (They will find the right direction pressing phone numbers).

Main season part 1

Listening activity:

We will play a track in which a woman is talking about two different pictures. One about winter season and the other one about summer season. She will use key words that will be helpful for students to guess what season she is talking about.

That day I looked out the window and the temperature was 2 °. Could I come back to my house with that cold? That day made me wonder if Santa Claus would come at home ... It was impossible to go out without gloves and scarf. White flakes falling from the sky and white streets made me feel cold.

It´s so hot outside! I can´t stand being in Madrid during this season, I´d rather prefer going to the beach and have a bath and sunbathing! I also need time to disconnect about the chaos in this town! It drives me crazy! Hopefully holydays are just here, so it is time to have fun!
